Hello CommuniTEA!

We truly can't wait to begin the 25/26 school year tomorrow morning at 8:30am. Please allow a little extra time for drop off and don't forget to send 7th through 12th graders to school with their Crew Trip bags packed for gear check.

As we launch into a new school year, we wanted to share a special slide show that was enjoyed by faculty and staff at the start of our professional development last week. David asked 12 teachers to share a photo from the last year that encapsulated the student experience at TEA and the results were truly inspiring. Themes depicted include the powerful impact of pursuing real-world learning in meaningful ways both on and off campus, unique opportunities created by working with experts, and the joy of finding humor and connection during challenging times. The slides also illustrate perseverance in the face of adversity, and pride in accomplishments -- especially those that are hard fought. Finally, they depict excitement generated by inch wide and mile deep learning, the importance of service learning, and the tremendous satisfaction our students experience when pursuing their passions with the support of faculty.

We look forward to a year filled with similarly beautiful and metaphoric images and thank you in advance for entrusting us with your children!

Welcome Eileen Kohli to our Faculty TEAm!

Eileen Kohli was born and raised in Burlingame, California, and grew up skiing in Tahoe. She earned a BFA in Costume Design with a minor in Cinema Studies from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. This past year, she completed her Master of Arts in Teaching in Art Education at Georgia State University while finishing her first year of teaching at a local elementary school in Georgia. Eileen recently moved back to California to be closer to her family and is very excited to begin her second year of teaching with TEA as the Lower School Art Teacher. Her classroom specialties include three-dimensional art and art inspired by film and diverse cultures. She is also continuing her own educational journey, planning to begin a second master’s program online next year as she works toward a PhD. Outside of education and art, Eileen enjoys reading, cooking, watching hockey, and spending time with her dog, Misha.

The faculty and staff lounge SNACK Fairy has arrived and we couldn’t be more grateful!! As a reminder, your TAP donation helps to purchase tasty and nutritious snacks for our beloved teachers all year long. Katie Hoopengardner and her daughter Maisie clearly enjoyed this important task. We look forward to telling you more about how TAP supports the school at the First Day Coffee.
