Raz-Kids Reading Club
Join Reading Specialist, Katie Bloom, for Raz-Kids Reading Club.
In our newest academic club offering, Raz-Kids Reading Club, participants will work on the foundation skills of reading development in a fun and engaging way. Through exercise, collaborative activities and an engaging online learning platform, Raz-Kids, students will build essential reading skills, like: Spelling proficiency, grammar usage, sight word recognition, fluency and much more.
Raz-Kids Reading Club Details
Instructor: Katie Bloom is TEA’s Literacy Specialist and part of our Student Support Services team. She works with Kindergarten through sixth grades helping to support students and teachers through differentiated instruction. Katie has been at TEA for the last six years. She loves to make reading engaging for all learners through play and discovery.
Who: 1st – 3rd Grade.
When: Mondays & Thursdays (10 total) from 3:00PM to 4:15PM on the following dates:
- October 21, 24 & 28
- November 4, 7, 11, 14, 18 & 21
- December 2. Note, December 5th is set as club make up day.
Where: Tahoe Expedition Academy Base Camp, located at 9765 Schaffer Mill Rd, Truckee CA 96161.
Capacity: This club is limited to 12 participants.

Sample Club Itinerary:
3:00pm – 3:25pm – Outside, students play structured games on the blacktop and sports field to get their blood pumping and let their wiggles out.
3:25pm – 3:30pm – Students enjoy water and snack.
3:30pm – 3:45pm – In the classroom, Ms Katie leads the lesson of the day along with a story read aloud.
3:45pm – 4:10pm – Students engage in Raz-Kids guided reading programming online – differentiated by age and reading proficiency.
4:10pm – 4:15pm – Wrap up and parent pickup.
