Fall Athletics

COVID-19 Update – Our goal is to deliver safe, socially responsible, and engaging athletics for student-athletes when school, state and local COVID-19 guidance allows. All offerings have been impacted by COVID-19 – adjustments are detailed below. Sports specific recommendations will be followed in conjunction with school policies to provide a safe environment for participating students and coaches alike. Due to the ongoing pandemic, transportation for athletics may be parent driven.

Fall Athletics – Mountain Biking and XC Running (Training Season) are scheduled for Fall 2020. Mountain Biking has COVID-19 specific Return to Play Guidance and allows for social distancing, PPE and other safety measures. XC running allows for similar practices. In person athletics are anticipated to begin at the end of September – once in person learning begins.

Cross Country Running

Our Cross Country Running TEAm is one of our most popular athletic offerings each fall! The Cross Country Training TEAm is open to students in 6th to 12th grade students for Fall Training, in the Spring this offering is for Middle School students only.

Mountain Biking

This fun, competitive TEAm is back and better than ever. Designed for 6th to 12th graders, who are able to train three days per week during the season, and compete in scheduled NICA races this Fall. Participants will train hard and learn the how to's of riding single track - challenge by choice of course! Mountain Biking is one of the best sports Tahoe has to offer - let's Ride!

Winter Athletics

The Winter Sports season will be busier than ever due to COVID-19 related sports season adjustments and our large Biathlon TEAms. Biathlon has COVID-19 specific Return to Play Guidance and allows for social distancing, PPE and other safety measures. Ball sports like Basketball and Volleyball are scheduled to happen in a modified format – this is a league wide Tah-Neva adjustment.

Advanced Biathlon Team

Our Advanced Biathlon TEAm is designed 6th - 12th-grade student-athletes with one or more full seasons of previous biathlon experience. Biathlon is one of the most demanding winter sports there is. It's both anaerobic and aerobic, so a great workout. Biathlon is highly skilled, technically demanding, and a great way to explore the vast Tahoe, Truckee XC trail systems during the Winter.

Devo Biathlon Team

Our Devo Biathlon team is designed for 5th to 12th student-athletes new to skate skiing and biathlon training. Student-athletes will learn how to skate ski with sound technique and balance. Practices will happen three days a week at nearby XC Training Centers. Athletes will compete in league wide nordic races during the winter, and, once able to ski properly will be invited to compete in their first ever Biathlon race.

Volleyball TEAm

Middle School Girls Volleyball is one of TEA's newest athletic offerings for female student-athletes. Practices will focus on the fundamentals of the sport, while games will happen in the fun and competitive Tah-Neva League. Our goal is to field two girls TEAms, a 5th to 7th Grade and 8th Grade TEAm with 9 or more players on each TEAm. This offering is for student-athletes of all abilities and levels. We’re building something new and are looking for committed, excited players ready to learn, compete and build a program together.

Boys Basketball

Middle School Boys Basketball is designed for student-athletes in 5th through 8th grade and of varied experience and ability levels – so new through experiences players are welcome. Practices and home games are typically hosted at Truckee Rec Center, while away games occur throughout the Tah-Neva region – which includes Tahoe, Truckee, Reno and Carson City. Experienced coaches will help guide our players – emphasizing fun, fundamental skill sets, great effort and floor IQ – along the way.

Spring Athletics

During the Spring, student-athletes will enjoy our widest range of athletics offerings for the 2020-21 School Year. Some offerings have shifted from other seasons in a concentrated effort to Return to Play. Spring offerings include: XC Running, Tennis, Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, MS Girls Basketball and of course, Track and Field!

Cross Country Running

Our Cross Country Running TEAm is one of our most popular athletic offerings ! Due to COVID-19, the XC competitive running season has been moved from the Fall into Spring 2021 – this is a league wide adjustment. During the Fall, practices will focus on healthy exercise through training runs on campus and along nearby single track trails. During the Spring, Middle School athletes will train and compete in Tah-Neva League scheduled meets.

Track and Field

Track and Field participants in 5th through 8th grade will compete in a variety of events like; the 200m hurdles, 1200m run, 100m to 800m sprints, discus, shot-put, long jump, high jump and more! Student-athletes will compete in scheduled Tah-Neva League meets. No experience is required, though committed, dedicated student-athletes are a must.

Tennis Team

Tennis TEAm is designed for student-athletes in 6th to 12th grade - all ability and experience levels are welcome. This TEAm is coached by one of the best athletics coaches there is, Martis Camp Head Tennis Pro, Andy Biederman. Training sessions will focus on aerobic exercise, footwork, movement, hand eye focus, volleying, serving, and more!

Golf TEAm

Golf TEAm is one of most popular offerings on schedule! 6th to 12th grade student-athletes will train with expert golf pros at local Truckee and Tahoe courses. This is an intermediate and up training TEAm, which means experience is required. Participants must be able to play nine holes of golf and capable in most facets of the game like putting, chipping, irons and driving.

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate frisbee is a fun, challenging and inclusive team sport. It is played in over 65 countries around the world and continues to grow rapidly. Our Ultimate Team is offered for high school student-athletes, all abilities are welcome to join - expect fun, high aerobic practices every outing. Committed athletes are a must to ensure TEAm development, competition, growth and fun.

This school year we hope to field TEAms that are skilled, high energy and fun to continue developing this awesome student experience at TEA!
