Mountain Biking | 2018 Fall MTB Team

Fall 2018 marks the fourth season of TEA’s Upper School Mountain Biking TEAm. This season is brief in nature, but super fun, challenging and rewarding!

Who: This NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) sanctioned TEAm is for 7th to 12th-grade student-athletes, girls and boys.

When: MTB TEAm practices begin next week. Our first practice begins Tuesday, August 21 @ 4pm – 6pm from TEA Campus . We will ride on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4pm to 6pm during the last few weeks of August. September practices will move to three practices a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm to ~5:00pm) in September through the last race on October 14, 2018.

Calendared Events: All practices and meets are listed on the School Calendar here, which is synced with the ParentSquare Calendar here for our existing students and families.

Where: Rides will vary to keep practices fresh, last season we rode Jackass, Tahoe Rim Trail, Flume, 06 and other fun, challenging single track trails. Ride schedules will be communicated prior to each practice week.

Governing Body / Competition Schedule: We ride against other schools and clubs in the Nevada Interscholastic Cycling Association or NICA.

  • Sunday, September 9, 2018 @ Hidden Valley Ranch in Reno, NV.
  • Sunday, September 30, 2018 @ Mammoth Mountain, Mammoth, CA.
  • Sunday, October 14, 2018 @ Tahoe Donner XC in Truckee, CA.

Coaches: Joe Taylor, Eric Martin, and other teacher-coaches.

Expectations: This is a competitive TEAm, ALL student-athletes are expected to attend each practice and competition. 100% effort and attendance is the expectation. There are only four races total – all are challenging and fun. NICA runs the best MS and HS sporting events in the area.

Equipment: Students must provide the following: Front or full suspension mountain bike, bike helmet, gloves, hydration system, and personal bike repair kit. Dress for riding and weather.

Costs: TEA covers coaching, league team-membership, and some transportation costs. Parents/students are responsible for individual rider registration cost (~$25 per race). Please contact Athletics Director, Eric Martin, with questions, comments or more.

Cross Country Running | 2018 Fall XC Running Team

With everyone on one campus, we’re excited to announce that Cross Country Running TEAm is back for the ‘18 Fall Sports Season! Please read below for team details.

Who: This TEAm is for student-athletes in 5th to 8th grade, girls and boys alike.

Where: Practices will take place in Martis Valley, with TEA Campus as home base.

When: Student-athletes will practice three times a week beginning in September on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 3:00pm to 4:45pm daily. With weekly meets on most Fridays. See School Calendar for practice and meet specifics.

League Schedule: XC Running is governed and organized by the Tah-Neva League, which governs interscholastic sports in Tahoe and thru Carson Valley. Note, athletes will not attend the August 30th Race @ Eagle Valley MS.

Coaches: Teacher-coaches, TBA.

Expectations: TEAm spots are limited, committed student-athletes only. Committed means 100% attendance for practices and events.

Equipment: Athletic clothing and trail running shoes, dress for the weather. TEA will provide branded XC running uniforms for meets.

Tennis | 2018 Fall Tennis Team

Tennis Training @ Martis Camp with Coach Andy Biederman was one of our most popular sports offerings last year. The 2018-19 school year marks our second year with a Tennis TEAm!

Who: For student-athletes from 7th to 12th grade. All experience levels and abilities are welcome. When: Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00pm to 4:45pm. September 10, 12, 24, 26 and October 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24.

Where: Martis Camp Tennis Pavilion. Coaches: Head Martis Camp Tennis Pro, Andy Biederman and other pros. Andy is one of the best coaches in the game, we’re fortunate to have him as a coach. Nilo Bill is the TEAm’s teacher-coach, his game on the court is entertaining, to say the least.

Cost: $150 for the season. Fee covers facilities, coaching and logistics. If finances are an issue, TEA will work to alleviate this pressure point. Please contact Athletics Director, Eric Martin, with questions, comments or more.

Equipment: Participants are required to bring tennis rackets, shoes and athletic clothing for each outing. Please come prepared to exercise. TEAm size: Limited to 14 participants.

Golf | 2018 Fall Golf Team

Fall ‘18 marks our first ever Golf Training TEAm, student-athletes will train with expert golf pros at local Martis Valley Golf courses. Please read below for schedule, pricing and more.

Who / Experience Level: For student-athletes from 7th to 12th grade, boys and girls. This is an intermediate training TEAm, experience is required. Participants should be able to play 9 holes of golf, accustomed to most facets of the game; putting, chipping, irons and driving.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm to 5:15pm. The season will run from the first week of school to October 18, 2018.

Where: Golfers will practice and play at local courses in Lahontan, Martis Camp and the like. Specifics will be announced weekly on ParentSquare.

Coaches: Lahontan Head Golf Pro and TEA Parent, Scott Bolen, along with a host of other pro coaches.

Expectations: TEAm spots are limited, committed student-athletes only. Committed means 100% attendance for practices and events.

Equipment: For each outing the participant must provide; golf clubs, attire and footwear. Please dress for the weather as well.

Cost: $200 per participant. Fee covers facilities, coaching and logistics. If finances are an issue, TEA will work to alleviate this pressure point. Please contact Athletics Director, Eric Martin, with questions, comments or more.
