Happy March TEA Families!

We want to start with a huge thank you to those of you who were able to join the Alumni Panel last Wednesday night, as well as the Inaugural Family Dance on Friday. Both were fantastic celebrations of connection, collaboration and communiTEA.

Speaking of collaboration, we are excited to partner with Wild River and Arts for the Schools to bring a captivating performance to our K–8 students. On Tuesday, March 10 from 1:30–2:30 p.m., hip-hop educator Brandon Greathouse, who is joining forces with Musica Sierra, will deliver an electrifying experience blending beat-making, storytelling, movement, and herpetology, inviting students to explore rhythm, ecological awareness, and creative expression in a joyful program that supports science, SEL, and the visual and performing arts.

Finally, we are thrilled to share a digital flipbook edition of our 2024–25 Impact Report. Inside, you’ll find highlights of the meaningful progress we made toward our strategic plan goals and see firsthand how your generosity enabled us to deepen student learning and move boldly forward in achieving our mission.

Sincerely,
Your Leadership TEAm

Recap of TEA's Winter Athletic Season!

Under the supportive leadership of Hunter Cosselman, TEA's high school basketball program has steadily grown the last few years, sporting an impressive seventeen member roster this season. Competing against freshman and sophomore teams from Incline Village, North Tahoe and Truckee, our Hawks showed tremendous promise and secured several wins.

During the final few weeks of the season, Coach Lindsay, a former Sacramento State player, joined us to coach alongside Coach Hunter. Her expertise accelerated player development and an overall understanding of hoops Xs and Os - evident in our Hawks’ game effort, playability and game IQ.

Five senior leaders are graduating from the team: Angus Arnoso, Barett Mason, Oliver Blumberg, Yonatan Shoham and Zander Wallpe. We are so grateful for their passion and dedication and years of engagement on the court. They will be missed, however the impressive talent among the team's younger players gives us confidence and excitement about next year’s season
MS Volleyball Team
Middle School Volleyball
Did you know our middle school Girls Volleyball season almost didn’t happen? Thanks to 6th Grade Crew Leader Brook Binley for stepping up to coach! Coach Brook is a former Stanford University volleyball letterman and scholarship student-athlete who played beach professionally post college for a decade. After a call to action Town Hall spearheaded by key students and Coach Brook, the team roster grew rapidly to 17 players.

Coach Shelby Christensen also joined the team; a great leader as well as a skilled coach and player.

Preseason training took place at Martis Camp Red Barn, a space we are incredibly fortunate to rent and use. Quite simply, without this partnership and facility, Girls Volleyball at TEA would not be possible.

Girls Middle School Volleyball is the most competitive and skilled middle school athletics offering in the Tah Neva League. TEA fielded two teams, a 5th - 7th, and an 8th grade team. Our girls did amazingly well! They were coachable, accountable and excited to play all season.

Arabella headshot

Arabella Etzold-Erickson, Class of '28

If you spend even a few minutes talking with Arabella Etzold-Erickson, you quickly discover they have an impressive range of passions. From competitive speed puzzling to musical theater, roller skating to animal science, Arabella brings curiosity, discipline, and a little bit of delightful quirkiness to everything she does.

Now a sophomore in her third year at TEA, Arabella is deeply involved with the Belonging Club, TEA Players, as well as with the drama department of the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. Through their intensive summer production program, she earned the role of Betty Blast in Footloose, performing lines while roller skating on stage. That experience demanded discipline, time management, and leadership as rehearsals stretched long into the evenings alongside school commitments.

Her dedication and leadership at the Club led her to apply for the Youth of the Year Award, for which they completed essays, prepared a formal speech, submitted a résumé and cover letter, and presented to board members, earning her a spot as an award finalist.

Arabella also brings a wonderfully unique competitive hobby to the spotlight: speed puzzling. What began as a family pastime evolved into national online competitions. Recently, she competed alongside adult competitors, an experience she described as both nerve-wracking and exciting.

“It was a bit nerve-wracking, but it was also really exciting. I got all my music set up. I get my prep work done, I work on my breathing then go,” they said.

That same focus and discipline show up in the classroom.

Arabella says she especially appreciates TEA’s revision process, noting that having the opportunity to refine her work has helped her build confidence and strengthen her writing. She said she values the accessibility of her teachers and the way TEA creates space to improve rather than simply move on.

As a sophomore, Arabella already has a clear academic direction. She is exploring animal science, inspired by years of working with horses. With the support of TEA’s Academic, College and Career Counselor Katy Watts, she has already taken a college-level class and is researching specialized programs and summer opportunities aligned with her goals. Rather than feeling rushed into decisions, Arabella is approaching her future thoughtfully, using high school to test interests, build credentials, and expand her understanding of what is possible.

Arabella embodies curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to lean into her varied interests and passions. We are proud to celebrate her many talents and the thoughtful, driven spirit she brings to our CommuniTEA.
