TEA Players - Madagascar Jr.

Theatrical Rehearsals, Performances and Workshops are sure to challenge, thrill and amaze audiences and participants alike in this year's Madagascar Jr!

This year, TEA Players, formerly known as Drama Club, presents the musical theatrical performance of Madagascar Jr.! This is a seven month practice, rehearsal and performance, and includes a culminating and required three day trip, complete with workshops and performances, to Sacramento for the Junior Theater Festival in February. Final Madagascar performances will take place in Building One at the end of March. TEA Players is led by Beth Gamboa and Nina Meehan, each are accomplished performers, instructors, and directors. Who, with their incredible staff, have established drama as one of TEA’s finest and rewarding program offerings. And adding musical brilliance to the show is our talented Music Teacher, Emily Tessmer and others.

“Madagascar Jr.” takes audiences on an exciting and hilarious adventure inspired by DreamWorks’ animated film. In this lively school drama performance, the central characters, including Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Gloria the hippo, and Melman the giraffe, find themselves on an unexpected journey from their comfortable home at the Central Park Zoo to the wild and unpredictable world of Madagascar.

As they navigate this new environment, the quirky group of friends encounter a wide array of unique animals and experiences, each bringing its own brand of humor and heartwarming moments. From the charismatic penguins with their grand escape plans to the eccentric lemur King Julien and his energetic crew, the story unfolds with unforgettable interactions and catchy musical numbers that capture the spirit of friendship, self-discovery, and the adventure of a lifetime.

Throughout the performance, the characters learn valuable lessons about the importance of embracing change, appreciating differences, and the true meaning of home. With vibrant costumes, dynamic choreography, and the infectious energy of the Madagascar inhabitants, “Madagascar Jr.” promises an entertaining and heartening theatrical experience that will leave the audience smiling, dancing, and singing along.

TEA Players’ Madagascar is sure to be a fun, memorable and experiential performance for student-performers of all ages!
