Inspiring Curiosity, Creativity and the Joy of Lifelong Learning at The Discovery Museum

TEA PreK and Kindergarten students recently traveled to the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum – aka The Discovery Museum.

The staff at The Discovery work to help inspire curiosity, creativity and the joy of lifelong learning in people of all ages. What a great fit for TEA students! The museum is a hands-on learning environment where children can explore interactive exhibits on nature, science, Nevada history and much more. They are also given the ability to express themselves artistically.

Students participated in the “Make it Go” lab and then checked out the “Inside Out” exhibition where they learned more about their bodies. Next, they went to the dinosaur room where the students worked together to uncover and identify bones! And of course, no trip to the Discovery Museum is complete without climbing the cloud structure, Miss Annie even joined in!

It was a colorful, upbeat day at the Discovery Science Center. The curiosity and joy really came out when making their own puff ball cup slingshots. It was very cool to see the social elements of impromptu teamwork by the PreK (to carry dinosaur “bones”) that we are used to seeing in the older grades. They get it!
